Job overview

We’re looking for an English teacher who is passionate about supporting children and young people who have faced multiple barriers to learning. Our ideal candidate would be an experienced KS3/ KS4 teacher who wants to develop their practice and experience more dynamic ways of engaging children in learning.

We are keen to appoint a teacher who has an understanding of the challenges our students face; a teacher with experience of working in an inclusive school or academy; a teacher who will help us to foster an academy culture of reflection, resilience and ambition.

We believe that working with excluded children and young people is immensely rewarding. We can offer a place of work where staff and colleagues share a determination to improve the outcomes for excluded and vulnerable children.

Our alternative provision academy in Hornchurch, in the London Borough of Havering, supports young people aged between 11 and 16 who have been permanently excluded from school.  The academy also offers an intervention programme specifically for those young people who are at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream school.  You can find out more about us at www.oliveacademies.org.uk

The academy has capacity for up to 64 pupils. The academy building is undergoing a major refurbishment programme and the new facilities will be completed in June 2019.
