About Goodwin Academy

Castle Community College (CCC) stands for Community, Care and Commitment.

At Castle Community College, we have high expectations of those who join us; we expect students to work hard and insist on the highest standards of behaviour and attendance. In return we offer the highest standards of teaching, support, and encouragement that our staff can provide.

Our primary aim is to ensure that all of our students are cared for and nurtured in a welcoming, but challenging environment, so that we bring out the best in everyone.

CCC believes in giving purpose to learning; celebrating success with reward and caring for all who come to work or learn here, by:

  • Enabling everyone to work to the best of their ability and to take pride in that achievement.
  • Offering a safe, welcoming environment which promotes an atmosphere in which all are valued
  • Nuturing, for mutual benefit, our strong links with home and the community we serve.

The School

We are a co-educational, non-selective school of approximately 700 students, including those studying in the Sixth Form.  On entry to the school, students are placed into small tutor groups of between 20 and 25.
Castle is a vibrant school with a growing reputation for academic excellence and fantastic extra-curricular opportunities for students.

Facilities for Learning

The college occupies a large, open and pleasant site in the centre of Deal. A recent art project within the school has helped to bring colour into the corridors and other areas of the school. The interior of the school has also been redecorated recently.

College facilities include:

  • 10 fully equipped computer rooms
  • a purpose built theatre with a full range of lighting, video and sound equipment
  • a music suite
  • learning resources centre, including a careers library
  • 5 science laboratories
  • 2 art and design studios
  • 1 dance/drama studio
  • a gymnasium and extensive grounds including tennis courts
  • a purpose built technology block
  • a purpose built 6th form block with seminar and conference facilities.
  • 3G Astroturf Pitch

Expectations

It is our expectation that, at all times, the people and property of our community will be treated with respect, care and consideration.  There exists a three-way partnership between students, parents and the school and it is vital that all work closely together in order to ensure that the students have the opportunity to achieve their personal goals within a caring, learning environment. Student should leave CCC with the necessary skills to become competent, responsible members of society.
