Required for September 2019

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and inspirational Teacher of English to join our Academy from September 2019.

Your new school

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is a truly comprehensive, over-subscribed 11-19 mixed school with nearly 1200 students on roll including a vibrant Sixth Form of approximately 200. It caters for all abilities and works hard to develop all talents. We seek to create a secure and caring environment so that our students can give their best. We celebrate every success.  The School’s work is guided by the highest principles in order to prepare our students for adult life, offering each one every opportunity to develop intellectually, socially, culturally and physically.

St John Fisher is going through a period of transition and change under the guidance of a new Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.  We are creating opportunities for staff to be involved in a range of national teaching projects that will have a clear impact on teaching and learning and student progress in school. However, there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure our school receives the recognition it deserves. You will be joining at an exciting time and will help shape the future direction of the school.

Your new role

Our English department is in the middle of a period of growth and change, and this presents a wonderful opportunity for aspirant and innovative candidates to develop their teaching skills and leadership potential.   You will receive access to a quality CPD programme that is transforming learning at our school.  St John Fisher is a breeding ground of innovation, and we pride ourselves on creating numerous opportunities for self and career development for our teachers. Applications are encouraged from both experienced and newly qualified teachers. We have an excellent mentor programme to support teachers new to the profession and we are confident that colleagues joining our school will feel welcomed and happy.

We look forward to hearing from candidates that are motivated by this vision and want to join a school that encourages students at every turn to exceed their potential.

To have an informal, confidential discussion, to arrange a visit and to find out how to apply, please contact Paula Read at Hays Education on 0113 200 3710 or email paula.read@hays.com

The closing date for completed applications is Monday 25th March at 9am

Interviews to be held as soon as possible after this date.

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is committed to the protection of our children and to best practice in the recruitment of staff.

About St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy

Welcome!

As Headteacher, I am proud and honoured to welcome you to St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, part of the Blessed Peter Snow Academy Trust.

As a Catholic secondary academy, we offer a unique education which places Christ at the centre of everything we do.

It is our mission as a Catholic academy to bear witness by putting Faith into action. Our CARE values – Commitment, Aspiration, Respect and Excellence form part of daily school life.

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is a place where all are valued for who they are and where they see themselves going. In partnership with our families, we will guide our young people on a journey that is both spiritual and academic. Together we will shape them into young adults who are true to themselves and who acknowledge their individual worth as being made in the image and likeness of God.

“I have come that they may have life and have it to the full” John 10:10

This is an exciting time to be a part of our community as we are on a rapid journey of improvement and are introducing a range of exciting new opportunities for our students.

We very much look forward to what the future holds for our Academy and most importantly, our students.
