The role will provide you with:

  • Focused teaching – only teaching KS4 and KS5 classes.

This is a role that will allow you to truly be part of something exciting; not only a new school but a new approach to educating 14-19 year olds: possibly the most exciting change in the education landscape in decades. You will help to shape the UTC English curriculum, policies and procedures and will work directly with our industry partners to put the UTC at the forefront of educational change.

All students at UTC Heathrow specialise in either Engineering or Digital areas; at 14 they study a broad and balanced curriculum including English Language and Literature and at Post 16 the curriculum becomes more specialised with qualifications in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science being studied alongside their specialist BTEC Level 3 course in Engineering or IT. UTC Heathrow will, in the words of Michael Gove, ‘inspire and train the next generation of engineers, technicians, craftsmen and industrial innovators’.

UTC Heathrow is a mixed University Technical College located in Northwood in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It offers its 14-19 year-old students a range of full-time technically oriented courses with an emphasis on aviation engineering, maths and science. It currently has just under 240 students enrolled but this is expected to expand to its maximum capacity of 400.

UTC Heathrow {originally known as Heathrow Aviation Engineering UTC} opened in 2014 - in response to growing demand for high-calibre professional engineers and technicians, aided by partnerships with Brunel University London, and major local employers British Airways plc and Heathrow Airport.

Students regularly get the chance to work on practical projects with these partners as part of their study, as well as more traditional classroom-based and workshop learning.
