Mount St Mary’s is a successful and over-subscribed inner city school located in the very heart of the city. We are well placed to focus our efforts on driving the standards of progress and achievement for all learners.
In 2017 Ofsted identified Mount St Mary's as "Requiring Improvement" but with considerable positive features. Our subsequent Ofsted Monitoring Visit in June 2018 highlights and praises the positive impact of leadership in all areas.
We have a well established reputation for our care, guidance and support, ensuring all learners are afforded a high level of structure and personalised development, recognised within our Ofsted report. All students seek to access extra curricular activities beyond the school day, be that of a sporting nature, academic, performing arts or public speaking. This is an area we value highly and continue to see growth in.
Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Teacher of English with the enthusiasm to assist in the driving forward of an already successful department - one that strives for an innovative and collaborative approach to the teaching of English. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, with excellent interpersonal skills, who will support and contribute to a team ethos capable of driving improvements. They will be able to teach across the age and ability range up to GCSE at higher level, with experience of English Literature and Language. All students study both Language and Literature on the AQA specification. In return they will have the opportunity to be part of a vibrant team teaching in a modern and stimulating learning environment. With significant curriculum change this year in English we have embraced and prepared for the effective delivery of our courses and have made incredible progress through the success of our outcomes this year; we would welcome your contribution to this exciting time in our subject area.
The successful candidate will play a full part in the life of the school community, will be a form tutor and will contribute to maintaining the strong Catholic character of the school and in fostering the development of students and staff.
