Unexpectedly available, a mid-year interim vacancy has arisen in our English department: however, with the natural expansion of the school, it is worth noting that there will be a permanent role available later in 2021. We seek expertise in delivering English; in return you have the opportunity to build on five terms of groundwork, helping to shape the curriculum structure and methodology as we work towards the delivery of the GCSE courses starting in September 2021.

About us – context and location

Coombe Wood School opened in September 2018 with 180 Y7 students. It was heavily oversubscribed for our recent September 2019 entry with 1205 applications for 180 places and over 3000 people visited during the autumn open evening. 

This is a new secondary fully inclusive co-educational school, established to meet an urgent rising local demand. Initially housed in temporary accommodation, the site for the ‘new build’ school is opposite Lloyd Park in South Croydon, with an excellent Tramlink service to and from East Croydon station (just 5 minutes’ journey-time away) and a short walk from several bus routes. 

Building of our £35 million a state-of-the-art school is well underway, which includes enhanced facilities, comprising a competition-sized sports hall, a full-size 3G artificial floodlit surface, dedicated music rooms, performing arts spaces and sprung floor studios for dance – to name a few!
