We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic English teacher, capable of teaching throughout key stages three and four. The successful candidate will join a friendly and committed team who work collaboratively in the best interests of all children. Broughton is a high achieving, heavily over-subscribed school. Broughton High School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school situated in the village of Broughton, just north of the centre of Preston, Lancashire. It is a community state school that is a high-performing specialist college with Leading Edge specialism. An average size for a secondary school, the school will provide 900 places for students between the ages of 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The school was established in 1975 by Lancashire County Council and has previously gone by the name Broughton Business and Enterprise College due to its specialism in the topic. In 2014, the school became a National Teaching School.

Ofsted

The Ofsted inspection in September 2022 graded Broughton High School as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.  Ofsted gave Broughton High School some amazing feedback, stating that “Pupils enjoy each other’s company at social times. They smile and laugh a lot.” Pupils told inspectors that they love coming to Broughton High School. They described it as being part of a happy and safe family.  Ofsted feedback included:

- They know about, and value, each other’s differences.

- Pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

- Pupils are fully focused on learning in class.

- Their behaviour is exemplary.
