Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a talented and skilled Teacher of English to join a successful and experienced department in our Church of England 11-18 comprehensive school.
Hutton is a regularly oversubscribed single sex boys school from 11-16 with 736 students currently on roll. The school is co-educational from 16-18 with 139 students currently on roll. The school was judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May 2017 and ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by SIAMS in February 2018.
The English Department at Hutton currently consists of 8 members of staff and consistently produces outstanding results at both GCSE and A Level. Ofsted noted that “Pupils make outstanding progress in English... This is a result of strong teaching, effective assessment and interventions”.
The English Department currently follow EDUQAS at GCSE and AQA at A Level; subjects within the department studied at A Level are English Literature and English Combined, both of which are popular choices with students.
Our success can be credited to our hard-working students, supportive parents and committed and dedicated staff both within the English Department and school as a whole.
We are looking for a teacher who can use their skills and knowledge to motivate, support and inspire our students to achieve their full potential. There may be opportunity to teach at A Level for suitably experienced candidates. This post would be suitable for newly qualified teachers.
