This is an opportunity for a well-qualified Teacher of English to play a key role teaching English across the senior school of a leading independent girls’ day school.
They will teach from Year 7 up to A Level (and possibly Oxbridge entrance), as well as contribute to extracurricular activities within English and Film. The successful candidate will be able to create engaging schemes of work, lead trips/visits, support university preparation and will support the vibrant extracurricular life of the school. They will be a good communicator who can enthuse and inspire both pupils and colleagues and will have exciting ideas about the teaching of English and the ways in which it can be further developed and encouraged across the whole school, including in the junior school.
The successful candidate will also have a strong understanding of the curriculum and a commitment to continuing professional development, as well as being efficient and organised. Experience of teaching (or an interest in) the subject of Film Studies would also be beneficial.

Northampton High School, part of the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST), is one of the oldest girls’ schools in the country, with a tradition of pioneering in girls’ education going back to its foundation in 1878.
Our school is situated in Hardingstone, just outside the town of Northampton, in a leafy site with extensive playing fields and spacious buildings that were purpose built when the school moved from the town centre in 1992. Interviews will be held in the week commencing 12 July 2021. As part of this process, candidates will be asked to teach a lesson of up to 35 minutes, for which there will be a prior briefing.

Northampton High School is an independent, selective girls’ day school for pupil aged two to 18. It is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), a registered charity and proprietor of 25 independent schools, and has approximately 500 pupils. It is located in Hardingstone, Northampton. Before moving to its current, purpose-built location set over 27 acres, it was based in Derngate, in Northampton town centre.
