TEACHER OF ENGLISH

Main Scale: M1 – M6

Full-Time, Permanent

Required to start September 2022

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of English to join our English faculty. This post could suit an NQT as well as a more experienced candidate.

The Redhill Academy is an outstanding, over-subscribed 11-18 academy and part of the Redhill Academy Trust. The Trust is a regional teaching school hub and as such teachers at the Academy have access to excellent CPD opportunities and the chance to work alongside other high performing schools in the region. The school is friendly and forward-looking, and determined to build on the high standards we currently achieve.

For a discussion about the role, please contact Amy Gascoigne, Trust Director for English or Kirsty Wiseman, Associate Faculty Leader for English on the academy telephone number.

Please email or telephone Mr Thornley, PA to the Head on 0115 9261481 or n.thornley@theredhillacademy.org.uk for further details and an application form or visit our website www.theredhillacademy.org.uk.

Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing date for applications: Midday, Thursday 3 February 2022

Interviews:                                           Week commencing Monday 7 February 2022

At The Redhill Academy we have four principles that guide everything we do:

 ◦ High expectations of all students

◦ Valuing and celebrating academic achievement

◦ Outstanding teaching for all students

◦ Widening students’ experiences through a range of extra-curricular activities including sports and the performing arts

Redhill was the first secondary school in Nottinghamshire to gain an “outstanding” Ofsted rating for the quality of teaching. This has now been achieved twice in succession.  At our most recent inspection (2013), Ofsted judged that “teaching is outstanding” and that “during the inspection … the teaching observed was consistently effective in capturing students’ interest and engagement”.  Our students were praised for behaving ”extremely well in lessons and around the academy site” and for being “calm, considerate and courteous at all times”.  The inspectors also found that “students are proud of their academy”, which to me is probably the sentence in the report that says most about what we try and do here at Redhill.
