Inspire their remarkable with us

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is operating on a rota basis to allow those children of workers critical to the COVID-19 response the opportunity to attend. However, during this period it is our intention to continue with essential recruitment for key positions starting in September 2020. We want to reassure applicants that effective measures will be implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing and in most cases we will use a virtual recruitment process.

Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time.

At Kingsley Academy, we are seeking a passionate and caring teacher, to join our thriving English Faculty. Serving a rich, diverse and ambitious community, we are located in the heart of Hounslow in West London, just next to Hounslow East tube station with excellent transport links to Central London. At Kingsley, we are ‘A school at the heart of our community, developing knowledge, ambition and kindness to prepare students for success at university and the world beyond’. We are passionate about achieving social justice for our students and believe firmly that it should not be about where you come from that determines how successful you are in life.

Since opening as an academy, our school has had a challenging past, however things are really changing and the academy was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in October 2020, the first time in our school’s history. Ofsted were impressed by the ‘transformation of our school’ commenting on our students ‘thirst for learning’ and their overwhelmingly polite and considerate attitudes towards staff and each other. Our Headteacher, joined in February 2019, and both he and our new Senior Leadership Team, have been integral to transforming our school into a ‘warm, inclusive school, characterised by excellent behaviour and calm and focused classrooms’ (Ofsted 2019).

We operate a centralised behaviour policy, characterised by high standards and no excuses, with the expectation that students and teachers have a right to disruption free classrooms, every lesson, every day. We don’t expect our teachers to have to run detentions, make negative phone calls home or waste time following up on poor behaviour. We ensure that the Senior Leadership Team deal with all of the fine details, so that you can concentrate on your classroom practice and sharing your passion for your subject.

We are firm believers in ‘working smart’ at Kingsley and with that in mind, we operate a ‘centralised planning’ approach, with knowledge rich lessons and accompanying knowledge organisers, so that staff can share the planning load and adapt lesson resources to meet their students needs. We also don’t believe in excessive meetings and have limited after school meetings particularly during crunch exam seasons, to ensure that workload is manageable. Other benefits of working at Kingsley, include excellent CPD opportunities, a two week October half term and high quality NQT coaching and support.

This role is due to commence in September 2020, however a summer start would be available for an NQT. We welcome applications from both NQTs and from experienced teachers, with the potential opportunity for a TLR for a suitably qualified candidate.

Our ‘Kingsley DNA’ runs through the fabric of our school. These are our guiding set of principles which determine our actions and behaviours at all levels, from students to staff to senior leaders.

Walk the talk – We role model the high standards that we expect of others

High expectations – We do not lower our expectations of anybody and strive to be remarkable

No excuses – We believe firmly that all can achieve, no matter their starting point and that success is achieved through hard work

Outstanding learning – We believe in the transformative power of education and know that excellent teaching and learning is our core purpose, put simply ‘the main business is the main business’

We are now seeking to appoint a passionate English specialist who is:

  • An excellent teacher
  • Passionate about their subject
  • Leads with integrity and is solution focused
  • Believes in the value and benefit of a knowledge rich curriculum
  • Hard working and solution focused
  • A team player and has a sense of humour
  • Believes passionately in the transformative power of education to change students lives

In exchange, we can offer you:

  • A happy and harmonious school community, where staff are valued and respected
  • A two week October half term break
  • A centralised behaviour system - no detentions, no negative phone calls home!
  • A sensible approach to meetings - if they don’t need to happen, we don’t have them..
  • A dedicated staff wellbeing co-ordinator and working party
  • A centralised approach to planning, to ensure that we are all sharing our resources and minimising workload
  • A strong professional learning offer, with pathways to NPQSL
  • A teaching Headteacher and Senior Team who walk the talk and are approachable, visible and proactive
  • An epic Christmas Party and Summer Barbeque!

If this sounds like a good fit, then we encourage you to apply for this important role.

This post is to commence from September 2020 (or an earlier start for NQTs).
