“Bartholomew School provides its students with an outstanding education”

We warmly invite applications to join our thriving English team—a team which routinely achieves some of the best results in the county (summer 2017, 90% of our students achieved grade 4 and above, with far more than the national average achieving the prestigious grade 9).

We are looking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic teacher who is keen to develop their skills and engage with our students across the age range. This could be a colleague new to the profession, looking to begin their career at an outstanding school, who would be supported through our excellent NQT programme; equally, we would be delighted to receive applications from more experienced teachers seeking new challenges. Moreover, those looking for part-time teaching would find us a friendly, welcoming team.

This presents an exciting opportunity to join this rapidly expanding, oversubscribed academy that has been judged by Ofsted to be Outstanding in both 2009 and 2013.  The school has a long held tradition of high academic standards nurtured within a caring, inclusive school community.  We have a successful track record of providing an education which delivers consistently high standards as well as the resilience and emotional intelligence which ensures that our young people have the potential to be leaders of the future.

Bartholomew School is sited in the village of Eynsham 5 miles from Oxford (with easy transport links) and serves the surrounding rural area.  Bartholomew School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

For further details and an application pack please contact Suzanne Nobes, on 01865 881430 ext. 250 or via email to: recr7867@bartholomew.oxon.sch.uk .

The closing date for applications will be Midday on Thursday, 31 January 2019, with interviews to take place on Monday, 4 February 2019.

Bartholomew School is recognised as being in the top 10 per cent of all non-selective schools nationally in providing the most able students. A quarter of its pupils achieve 5+ A*/A grades.

The original school was founded in 1704 by a gentleman called John Bartholomew.

Values and vision

The school prides itself on in its high quality pastoral care, its highly qualified teaching staff and well-motivated pupils. The school places equal emphasis on children who are gifted and talented as those with learning difficulties.

Ofsted

“Students make outstanding progress in a wide range of subjects, including English and mathematics. Results in GCSE examinations were above average in 2012 and are on track to be even better this year. The sixth form is outstanding. Most students continue their studies into the sixth form where they achieve very well. A high proportion of students attain the top grades in their A-level subjects and many proceed to higher education.”
