A large proportion of pupils have mental health issues and require extended support from a range of multi-professional services.

We are seeking to appoint a talented, inspirational and innovative teacher of English, who is firmly committed to working with young people, their parents/carers, multi-agency professionals and colleagues. We are also seeking somebody who puts our pupils first and in doing so has a commitment to improving the life chances of our pupils and their families. Our school seeks to enhance the opportunities and challenges offered to our pupils both within and outside the curriculum, and appoint a teacher who is passionate about their subject.

The successful candidate will be able to input their own ideas and strengths into the development of the English curriculum which is a real opportunity to shape the innovative and growing curriculum within our school. The ideal candidate:

  • Will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school
  • Will have an excellent knowledge of the current GCSE specifications at KS4 thus being able to develop effective teaching strategies at KS3 ensuring the promotion of excellence at KS4
  • Will participate in arrangements of preparing pupils for external examinations
  • Will have the ability and desire to teach to our small KS2 class
  • Will take responsibility for a form group, maintaining an overview of teaching, standards and achievement and liaising with their parents/carers
  • Will raise achievement and deliver excellent academic outcomes

  • Has the training, skills and experience to make a significant impact on the quality of teaching and learning
  • Consistently evaluates and improves their impact and effectiveness

The successful candidate will have access to considerable support and training, in all aspects of their role, ensuring that they are able to develop our pupils appropriately whilst being able to progress their own practice. The role would be equally suitable for an NQT or a more experienced teacher looking for their next challenge.

Fundamentally, we are looking for an outstanding teacher who is as passionate about reducing the barriers to learning as they are about their subject knowledge and delivery.

The school location is superb and our pupils do their absolute best.
Given the very special challenges and opportunities that the position offers, applications will only be considered from candidates who have visited the school.
