The English Department has seen a number of changes over the past three years. We are looking to establish a new, resilient, forward thinking and dynamic team of individuals who are committed to promoting a ‘love of English’ across the school. An enormous amount of work has been done to overhaul schemes of work at Key Stage 3 and 4 to ensure that, all students, are enthused, engaged and challenged at all times. And, most importantly, that they are best prepared for the rigour of the new curriculum demands at Key Stage 4.
The department is made up of five staff, two of which are the Headteacher and the SENDCO. All members of staff have their own classroom equipped with an interactive white board. AQA specifications for both English Language and English Literature are currently taught in Years 10 and 11.
It is vital that the appointed English teacher is willing to work closely with existing and new staff and share in our vision and goals, in order to encourage the aspirations of all students through their commitment to English.

About The Oaks Academy
The Oaks Academy, situated in Crewe, Cheshire East, is a coeducational school for children between the ages of 11 and 16. It was previously called the King’s Grove High School before gaining academy status in January 2016. Oaks Academy is member of the Crewe Multi Academy Trust and shares a campus with Gainsborough County Primary School and South Cheshire College. At the moment, there are around 650 students enrolled at the school.

Students feel safe on the site and are nurtured by friendly members off staff. The curriculum is challenging, but also fun and well-balanced. Leaders’ evaluations of teaching are accurate and relate closely to the need for teachers to demonstrate that all students make good progress. Leaders and staff have worked successfully to improve their skills and are committed to further improvement for the benefit of all students and the school’s community. Behaviour and safety are good. Students feel safe in school and their behaviour and attitudes to learning have improved since the last inspection. Staff know their students well and relationships are positive. Good levels of care and support are provided for those students whose circumstances may make them vulnerable.”
