Job overview

We are looking to recruit two Teachers of English to be placed within one of our 5 vibrant secondary schools where staff and students work together to create an inviting and purposeful atmosphere. If you join Bourne Education Trust you will be working in a school that:

The main duties of the role will include:

  • Setting challenging teaching and learning objectives which are relevant to all students in class. 
  • Planning effectively to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Liaising effectively with parents or carers on students’ progress and achievements.
  • Working effectively as part of a team.
  • Using a variety of teaching methods and styles appropriate to the range of ability of the students being taught.
  • Securing a standard of behaviour that enables students to learn, and act to pre‑empt and deal with inappropriate behaviour in the context of the behaviour policy of the school.
  • Undertaking the teaching of those classes assigned under the school timetable.
  • Planning and preparing lessons in accordance with the schemes of work of the department.

The successful candidates will:

  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the subject(s) they are trained to teach (essential).
  • Be degree level educated and hold an appropriate teaching qualification (essential)
  • Have previous teaching experience (desirable)
  • Be committed to the pursuit of high standards, both academic and behavioural (essential)
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner (essential)
  • Be committed to being an excellent team player (essential)
  • Be able to build excellent relationships with students, parents and other staff members (essential)
  • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences (essential)
  • Possess excellent behaviour management skills (essential)
  • Be able to create a happy, challenging and effective learning environment (essential).

These positions will be located in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

This is a full time post. Contracted working hours will be 32.25 hours per week.
