Teacher of English
The English Department at SJI International is friendly and student focused. We aim to nurture a love for Language based studies, alongside an appreciation of the different genres that make up the study of Literature. From Grades 7 to 10, we develop our students’ understanding of how language is used in society, as well as helping them cultivate a sensitive reading of literature from different cultures and traditions. In Grades 11 and 12, Language studies become linguistically focused, while the study of literary genres is more formally based and includes works in translation. Context is the element that binds both courses of study together. We are looking for an ethused teacher of English capable of inspiring a love of the subject in students either in the middle or high school years (as best befits the applicant’s experience).

For all teaching posts the successful candidates will have a good first degree in their teaching specialism, a recognised teaching qualification and a proven track record as inspirational teachers. The ability to teach across the age and ability range from Grade 7 (12 year-olds) to IB Diploma level is preferred unless a middle school / IB Diploma specialism is specifically stated. Significant training and development opportunities are available for teachers (both in-house and through external providers) and the desire to take part in and contribute to collaborative school and personal development is essential.
