This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to join a dynamic and forward looking school.

With a pupil population of 39 (including pre-school), Stronsay is a vibrant island school.

The suitable candidate will join a committed and enthusiastic staff team, some resident and some itinerant. All staff in the school show a commitment and desire to continually improve the quality of learning and teaching.

Salary will be based on the SNCT Salary Tables plus an Islands Allowance. We offer a generous relocation package of up to £8,000.

About Stronsay Junior High

Stronsay is an island community with a population of approximately 400. 

Stronsay Junior High School serves the island of Stronsay and caters for pupils from 3 to 16 years (pre-school to S4), and has a current roll of 55.

The school enjoys exceptional support from its newly formed Parent Council and the wider community. The benefits from strong community/family values are implicit in the way of life. 

An ethos of hard work and a caring attitude has consistently enabled pupils to achieve very good examination results, and each individual is encouraged to achieve his or her potential. Links with other schools are constantly being developed electronically and children’s experiences are enhanced in a variety of other ways. 

The school is in very good order and is extremely well resourced. The school is currently part of an innovative government funded Schools of Ambition project involving all six Orkney Secondary schools. This project aims to provided opportunities for joint working between schools to provide a sound basis for sustainability and enhancement of the educational experiences in Orkney secondary schools.
