Alder Community High School is an oversubscribed, 11-16, mixed comprehensive school and is situated in Gee Cross, Hyde within Tameside to the east of Manchester and is close to the borders with Stockport and the Peak District. We can offer excellent facilities, a friendly and supportive environment and opportunities for professional development.

Our school is moving from strength to strength. Examination results have improved dramatically over the last few years and this year 80% of our students achieved a grade 4 or above in English; 73% achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths. Progress in English and Mathematics is consistently above national averages. Our Progress 8 figure in 2016 was above the national average, in the top 30% of schools nationally. Our NEET figures are virtually zero this year. In June 2014 Ofsted judged us to be a ‘Good’ school.

We are looking to appoint a passionate, inspirational teacher of English. The successful applicant will join a thriving, high-performing and well-resourced department, where results have been consistently significantly above the national averages in all measures. You will be joining a highly committed team of professionals who are passionate about raising standards and who are determined to further develop the teaching of English and learning outcomes for all students. You will be required to teach across the age and ability range and will be expected to contribute to after school revision classes where necessary. Applications from both experienced teachers and NQTs are welcome.

Alder Community High School is a member of the A+ Trust, which is a collaboration of six schools and a sixth form college who are working together to support one another in their endeavour to provide the best possible educational experience for the young people of Tameside.
