Teacher of English
Required September 2019
St Damian’s is a heavily oversubscribed Roman Catholic Science College which is committed to the professional development of staff and promoting the welfare of children.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative teacher of English. This post is suitable for an NQT or a teacher already on the MPS. The person we are looking for will be committed to enthusing children of all abilities, be passionate about teaching and learning and will be supportive of the College’s Catholic ethos. In November 2017 we were judged by Ofsted to be Outstanding and we consistently produce at least good outcomes for our great children. Our English results are excellent and in August 2018 87% of pupils achieved a Grade 4 or higher in English. For Grade 5 and above, which is the strong pass, the figure was 68% which is well above the national average.
These results are the outcome of exceptional pastoral care, high-quality teaching and strong leadership.
St Damian’s is situated on the Tameside and Oldham border and is widely recognised for the quality of care it provides for all pupils and the professional opportunities afforded to all colleagues. The College is committed to safeguarding children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
