MPS Full time. Temporary for 5 months (in the first instance) with January start.
The governors of Darland High School are looking to appoint a passionate teacher of English to join our Faculty of English and Communication. You will join a high performing team, who have experienced significant improvement in both KS3 and KS4 outcomes in recent years. You will also benefit from a motivated and professional staff body who are very supportive of new staff.
The successful applicant, who will be covering the timetable of one of our full time English teachers due to a planned absence, will be joining a highly organised faculty of six members of staff. English is a pivotal subject in the school, recognised in the very generous curriculum time afforded to it. An ability or willingness to teach GCSE Media in addition to English, will be an advantage.
Darland High School is an 11-16 English medium comprehensive school with 850 students on roll. Serving a cluster of villages in between Wrexham and Chester, the school enjoys easy road and rail access to North West England and North Wales.
The school has a reputation for academic excellence, achieving results at both key stages, which are consistently above both local and national averages. We have close relations with the local community as well as with neighbouring schools, with whom there is a spirit of active curriculum collaboration. The school is set in extensive landscaped grounds and has benefitted from a major rebuilding programme, which saw new science block open in 2011. As a result of the improvements in the school, we have experienced year on growth since 2012 and are currently oversubscribed in most year groups.
The posts will suit new entrants to the profession as well as a more experienced practitioner. What is important is that you have a passion for communicating your love of English language and literature to highly motivated and enthusiastic students. Further details are available from the school on request. To apply for the post please use the attached Application Form. Applications must be received by midday on Monday 9th December. Interviews will be held the following week.
