At Thomas Becket Catholic School we believe that it is not enough to love the children they have to know that they are loved. This belief is the foundation of our journey to build a truly extraordinary school. Due to our success and demand we are increasing the size of our cohort and are looking for committed and passionate teachers to join us on our journey.
The school’s leadership team led by Executive Headteacher, Ciran Stapleton, and Headteacher, Mark McLaughlin, have had a remarkable first year at Thomas Becket Catholic School where our children’s progress improved by +0.44 at GCSE, where our student numbers are growing rapidly and where we have laid the foundations to create an academically, personally and spiritually enriching learning environment.
Due to an increasing demand in pupil numbers and the growing success of Thomas Becket Catholic School, the Directors of this successful, popular and up and coming Catholic Secondary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of English to all Key Stages including A Level, to commence in September 2019. NQTs will be considered for this role.
Thomas Becket Catholic School is part of a Multi Academy Trust along with three primary schools, St. Gregorys, St. Mary's and The Good Shepherd, all situated in Northampton. We are committed to continuous improvement and driving up standards of attainment and we are ambitious for our students and staff. In 2018 we secured our best ever results and a significant improvement in our progress score. Recent validated data has been published and our positive progress is testament to our focus on always doing the right thing for the child.
Our Mission Statement is one that was discussed and agreed with our Student Leadership Team which we all feel summarises our school as we continue on our exciting journey. Our Mission Statement, “Christ’s love is our Foundation” is the basis of all we do, driven by our Core Values and the belief that it is not enough to love the children, but that they need to know they are loved.
Our school has amazing facilities such as excellent sporting facilities, diverse curriculum areas and a large Horticulture area. The buildings and opportunities are available to staff to create something truly exceptional.
We have a fantastic commitment to professional development and believe that the right person can make a real difference. Each week we spend an hour and a half on professional development through energetic pedagogy led sessions, breakouts, coaching and other professional activities. We believe relationships underpin good schools and regularly collapse CPD to provide time for the children.
Visits to the school are welcomed by contacting Jan Hayes, PA to the Headteacher at HayesJ@thomasbecket.org.uk.
All our staff uphold the Core Values and Catholic ethos of the school regardless of religious denomination as we work as a community for our children. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS clearance in line with our Safer Recruitment Policy.
