About the School

Jumeirah College is a GEMS Premium Secondary School which delivers the National Curriculum for England, offering the full range of GCSE and A level courses. The College has been repeatedly judged to be Outstanding in inspections. Although non-selective at admission, our students achieve exceptional exam results which compare to top UK schools. In 2017 90% of GCSE results were A*-B, and at A level 54% of all grades were A*/A with 83% A*-B. This success enables our students to move on to the very top universities around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale.

Our student body is a dynamic international community of over 1,100 students from over 65 nationalities. About the Role

From September 2019 we are looking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of English to join the College.

The successful candidate will work in an exceptional department which is both extremely popular and successful. In 2018 Results:

- In English Language GCSE 53% grade 7-9 grade compared with 13.9% on average for UK schools. 100% grade 7-5 in Language, compared with 62% of UK students. 95% of students achieved a grade 6 or above.
- In English Literature GCSE 59% grade 7-9 grade compared with 10.6% on average for UK schools. 100% grade 7-5 in Literature, compared with 72.9% of UK students. 94% of students achieved a grade 6 or above.

- In A Level English Literature: 31% grade A-A*, compared to 27.8% of students in the UK. 100% grade A-C, compared to 72.3% A-C in the UK. 75% of students achieved a B grade or higher.
- In A Level English Language: 17% grade A-A*, compared to 11.1% of students in the UK. 100% grade A-C, compared to 79.4% in the UK. 71% of students achieved a B grade or higher.

The opportunities which English present for students is central to the philosophy of the school. As a result, this appointment is crucial to the continued development of Jumeirah College.

The successful applicant will have the following:

A certified teaching qualification with exceptional subject knowledge and experience of leading a high performing teaching team.

Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level or equivalent. We are seeking to appoint talented, highly motivated and well-qualified individuals. You should have a proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching.

At least 2 years’ experience of the National Curriculum for England.

To be considered for these posts you must hold a B.Ed. or degree and PGCE / PGDE or equivalent. The successful applicant will possess the willingness to commit to Extra Curricular activities.
