The JCB Academy was established in September 2010, the first of a brand new kind of school in the UK, with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering and business education.    

Since opening we have been consistently successful - our first Ofsted inspection, in May 2014, recognised us as a “Good” school with “outstanding” features, including progress in mathematics, engineering and vocational courses and the dedication to keeping learners safe and secure.  Learner numbers are growing - we have been oversubscribed every year, including for entry this September.  Currently we cater for approximately 580 full time learners aged 14-18 as well as approximately 300 learners aged 16+ following apprenticeships.  We have exciting plans to expand further due to the demand for places; this will include Y9 for the first time from September 2018. 

We are looking for a dynamic, well qualified Teacher of English to commence from the start of the new academic year 2018.    

About English at The JCB Academy At KS4, the learners follow the Eduqas specification studying both English Language and English Literature. The results in the English department are excellent and performance at GCSE has been very pleasing for the last four years. Learner enjoyment at KS4 is very apparent and continues into KS5 where AQA English Literature is a very popular A Level choice. The English Team is strong and cohesive and enjoys a high profile within the academy. There are currently four English specialist within the team and each of them has excellent subject knowledge and classroom management skills. The team also benefits from the dedicated support of a Specialist Learning Support Assistant. The team enjoy planning and working together and are particularly interested in innovations in teaching and learning and the promotion of Literacy across the curriculum.

The academy is located in Rocester, Staffordshire in an adapted and renovated mill,  built by the famous industrial entrepreneur and engineer, Richard Arkwright, in the late 18th century.
