Job overview

“To be or not to be…?” A great English teacher that is.

Whether you’re an NQT or you have been teaching English for decades, to be truly ‘great’ you need an environment in which pupils genuinely want to learn. An environment in which your colleagues are as geeky about your subject as you are. And, if you want to keep developing, you need the right professional development opportunities.

Barr Beacon School offers you this – and more.

We are a school where being a ‘geek’ is not a bad thing – in fact, it’s cool, for both pupils and staff. Our pupils are exceptionally well behaved: you really will spend your planning time on instilling a love of English, not for controlling behaviour. And to top it all, we run a fully-funded Masters programme (delivered on our school site by the University of Worcester) and bespoke training packages, such as our revered Middle Leaders training, so you can advance quickly to the next stage of your career.

Whatever your level of experience in the classroom, it’s your passion for your subject that counts. We prize love of learning above all else.

Parents love what we do. It’s why we’re so oversubscribed, with 4 times the amount of applications for every place we have. Teachers love working here too, which means pupils love their learning. English is always expanding – quite literally this year, with the brand new £4 million block with all new English classrooms. It’s why we’re seeking to expand our English team. We offer both English literature and English language at A level, and every member of the team is given the opportunity to teach the full age range if they want to.

We need a talented teacher of English who has the passion to provide pupils with the best possible experience of this fascinating subject. Could it be you?

“Words, words, words,” you might be thinking (and, in the process, paraphrasing Shakespeare). All adverts say roughly the same thing don’t they? That’s why we urge you to visit us. There’s a real buzz about the place which no amount of words can convey, so please come to see Barr Beacon School for yourself.

If you are already interested in joining us, visit www.barrbeaconschool.co.uk to download an application form and send it to Lynsey Draycott: LDraycott@barrbeaconschool.co.uk

Closing date: Friday 27th October 2017.

Early applications welcome.  NQTs welcome to apply.
