Leytonstone School is a mainstream, non-denominational, community secondary school for boys and girls aged 11-16. It is situated in Leytonstone, East London.

The school serves a truly multicultural community and it is proud of its diversity. Leytonstone School offers a broad curriculum for its 862 pupils, designed to extend its most able students and provide support to those who need it most. Emphasis is placed on the quality of pastoral care.

Leytonstone School features new facilities for science, technology, music, art and drama, while its main school building, which dates back to 1911, has been updated and refurbished. Formerly an all-girls school, it has been a mixed comprehensive since the 1980s.

Leytonstone School is a safe space where our pupils develop their ambitions and the life skills with which they will achieve them. Our school motto is ‘Great things will grow’ and we truly believe that the creation of an optimum educational experience will lead to all our pupils leaving the school as highly qualified, kind and confident young people with a wealth of experience of the wider world.

Academic achievement very is important for future success, but we aim to be more than just an educational establishment. We want to work hand in hand with the vision of the local community to reduce poverty, reduce violence and improve the health and life chances of our young people. The effectiveness of our work is seen in the fact that 98% of pupils who leave us continue on into further education, training or employment.

We believe that the key to doing this is to provide pupils with access to exceptional teaching and learning within a warm and motivational environment. Relationships between pupils and staff at the school are warm and harmonious. We work within a culture of trust, mutual respect and honesty. Our expectations of pupils are high and we know that as a result of experiencing such a context, our pupils will go on to lead enriched and fulfilled lives, making positive contributions to their own communities in turn
