Winstanley College is a large sixth form college specialising in A levels.  Judged ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED the College is regularly towards the top of the league tables and has an excellent reputation for academic achievement, comprehensive pastoral care and extensive enrichment.  Committed and inspirational teachers, with a passion to deliver outstanding English sessions, are invited to apply for the following post available from 8 January 2018:   

PERMANENT FULL-TIME TEACHER OF ENGLISH 

 Part-time or job shared would be considered (Salary £22,937-£38,364 per annum)  We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers and those who have started their teaching careers in schools, as A level teaching experience is not essential.

Winstanley College is a mixed, selective, non-denominational, general further education college situated in Wigan, Lancashire. It is a 16-plus institution and a member of the national Maple Group for high-performing sixth-form colleges. There are approximately 1,200 learners at the college, the majority of whom study full-time.

Winstanley College has its roots in Upholland Grammar School, which was founded in 1661 and moved to Winstanley Road in 1953. It gained its current name in August 1977. Since then it has gained a number of accolades, including ranking first in The Guardian’s countrywide A-level results collation in 2010, being named Sixth Form of the Year by The Sunday Times in 2012, and most recently winning Sixth Form of the Year at the TES FE Awards.

Students tell us that teachers have high expectations of them and that they develop positive relationships with their students. Students trust their teachers.
