We seek to appoint a qualified Teacher of English to start in September 2022. The ability to offer an additional subject such as Media or Drama would be an advantage, and experience of teaching A level would be desirable. 

We are an excellent school with a secure track record of dynamic and enthusiastic teaching and learning. Our school is the second highest performing non-selective school in Kent, as has been published recently by the Department of Education.   

We have a strong, innovative and collaborative department who effectively use creative strategies to reduce workload and to inspire excellent progress for students in years 7-13. The English department consistently achieves excellent results at both GCSE and A level. We are affiliated with a number of reputable professional partnerships, and offer a variety of high quality Continuing Professional Development opportunities.

St. Simon Stock Catholic School Founded in 1967 as a school of the Archdiocese of Southwark, the School recently celebrated 50 years of Catholic education serving Maidstone and the west of Kent. As a Catholic Comprehensive school of all abilities within a selective area, the School is known for its high standards of academic, vocational, sporting and pastoral achievements. Location - Maidstone is 40 minutes from London by high speed train. Gatwick airport is less than an hour away from the School. The School has a Sports Hall and Designated 6th Form Centre, specialist Science labs [the School has a Science specialism], Technology workshops, Muga sports facility.

CPD - involves a series of twilight sessions on areas identified by staff through appraisal; electives are created from courses attended by staff to feedback to colleagues; training for new areas e.g. LGBTQ,SEN, Pupil Premium, etc. A Senior Member of Staff has the encouragement of career progression as part of their role in addition to Performance Management and CPD in order to gain a holistic overview of training.

OFSTED - Section 5-Good; Section 48-Outstanding in all categories.
