BIST currently provides for approximately 360 children aged 3 to 18 from over 50 countries. Our modern purpose-built campus, extending over 15,000 square metres, is situated next to a natural lake on the hills overlooking the city. The state-of-the art facilities incorporate many important features that support innovative teaching and learning in the 21st Century. We adapt the English National Curriculum alongside the International Primary Curriculum to offer a creative and flexible curriculum that leads to Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels at Key Stages 4 & 5. BIST is a Patron's Accredited Member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

BIST Secondary Section has a vacancy for the following position for the academic year 2022-23.

Secondary School Teacher of English with Humanities

British International School of Tbilisi (BIST) is looking to recruit a teacher of English with Humanities with the ability to teach IB Diploma Theory of Knowledge. BIST follows a Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A Level programme, however, our sister school, British Georgian Academy is starting the IB Diploma in August 2022. The schools work very closely together and BIST staff assist BGA where appropriate.

BIST students and staff are committed to supporting the wider community through our wide-ranging BIST community programmes. All teachers also support and contribute actively to our cross-curricular days and weeks, our diverse programme of extra-curricular activities, and the PSHE programme. Secondary teachers will be expected to teach their subject to A Level and to prepare students for world class universities.

The successful candidates will have recent UK/international experience, be highly motivated, well organised and possess UK qualifications (or equivalent internationally recognised qualifications). An understanding of the benefits and challenges of living in a rapidly developing country is an advantage.

Staff members at BIST enjoy a stimulating, supportive working environment and pay and conditions compare very well with other international schools in the region. BIST net pay scales are above UK net pay scales and this is enhanced with an annual air ticket, full medical cover, a housing allowance and the opportunity to work and live in a beautiful and fascinating country. The successful candidates will join a team of enthusiastic and committed staff in this highly popular and well-regarded school.

Please submit a completed BIST application form and supporting letter by Wednesday 15th December 2021. We encourage early applications as we will begin initial interviews prior to the deadline. Application forms and further details are available on request from recruitment@bist.ge Candidates will be  formally interviewed via zoom/skype and also have the opportunity for an informal zoom/skype discussion prior to this.
