We seek to appoint a well-qualified and versatile English Teacher.
English is taught throughout the 11 - 18 age range and at all levels and ability. We enjoy results significantly above the national average. KS3 has a varied and engaging curriculum which follows the literary cannon chronologically giving both breadth and diversity and gives specialists the opportunity to share their care for the subject.. All groups in KS3 are mixed ability. KS4 classes are set and we follow the AQA syllabi for both Language and Literature. English is popular at A-level with AQA English Language and OCR English Literature being offered.
The English department enjoys a collaborative and collegiate ethos with the quality of classroom teaching at the heart of everything we do. The department is at the centre of the school’s teaching and learning innovation and enjoys a partnership with the Prince’s Teaching Institute and PiXL.
The successful candidate will be expected to be an excellent and aspirational classroom practitioner, who wishes to share their expertise and make a difference. As a school we value highly the development of new and existing materials and the post will involve the opportunity to work on the review of existing materials and the development of new ideas.
Above all else, the successful candidate should be enthusiastic about their work with young people and have a genuine concern for their development as individuals.
The school sees the form tutor as a key role in the support, development and welfare of the students and teachers are expected to undertake this role with the same standards and commitment as their subject role.
The school offers a bespoke CPD programme, research and development, links and networks with other outstanding schools as well as a plethora of extra-curricular and cross-curricular working opportunities.
We are a team of enthusiastic and positive teachers who are active in the Twitter community, examine for our boards, regularly deliver CPD in the broader school community and share a personal love of subject. We are looking for an experienced teacher to join our progressive TLR team and uphold the high expectations and values we hold dear as English educators and work as developing transitions between KS2-KS3 and KS4-KS5.
The successful candidate will champion the department’s ethos, contribute to or quality assure processes and be heavily involved in pro-actively developing CPD for our staff.
