We are one of the top-performing colleges in the country, situated in the cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton & Hove. Working here offers the combination of both a wonderful place to work and a great city in which to live. Our students and staff are colourful, aspirational and hard-working – which is perhaps why 96% of employees would “recommend BHASVIC as a good place to work” and many of our students go on to Higher Education.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative ESOL teacher to work with classes of mixed level and age. Our classes are for a majority of 16-19 year-olds, mainly asylum seekers and refugees, but we have students from other backgrounds and some older students. We prepare students for accredited ESOL qualifications from Entry 1 to Level 2.

As a college, we are ambitious for our students and seek to appoint a candidate who can bring the right blend of flexibility, commitment, energy and vision. We welcome applications from enthusiastic and versatile teachers, including new entrants to the profession.

Join us and you can expect competitive pay and an excellent pension scheme, family-friendly working and a collaborative culture where ideas take flight together. Our Cycle to Work scheme, free counselling and occupational health service, discounted gym memberships and staff wellbeing events will keep you sharp, whilst our tailored induction programme and investment in your professional development – along with the possibility of funding for additional qualifications and to even take a sabbatical – will ensure an exciting future.

This part-time position is fixed term until August 2020 due to a staff member taking a year out.

The BHASVIC Corporation has adopted the conditions of service and salary scales applicable to sixth form colleges. The current full-time salary range for qualified teachers is £23,396 to £38,748 per annum (depending upon experience). This salary will be pro rata based on your FTE.
