Clearwater Bay School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School serving the Sai Kung, Clearwater Bay and Tseung Kwan O communities in the Eastern New Territories of Hong Kong. Through the IB Primary Years Programme, we offer a world class international primary education to 720 students in years 1-6 that develops students’ creativity, confidence and willingness to achieve their personal best. 

Clearwater Bay School is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified teacher who can contribute to the Expressive Arts programme (Dance, Drama, Music) and would also have the skills and motivation to make a contribution to the wider curriculum through teaching in another area. 

This is a new role in the school that will have expressive arts at the core. We are seeking motivated practitioners who can broaden program offerings and opportunities for students. Desirable areas of wider skills / experience include Individual Needs / Learning Enhancement, Language (e.g. Librarian Experience) or Visual Arts. Interested candidates should state their areas of wider interest as part of their application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Lead Teacher for Expressive Arts and other colleagues to develop and deliver an Expressive Arts programme across the school (Y1-Y6) to incorporate Music, Dance, Drama and Performance
  • Teach dance / drama / music and other expressive arts skills across the school to classes, individuals and groups. 
  • Support Arts performances within the school and across the ESF Foundation
  • Support the school’s assembly programme
  • Support the extra-curricular programme linked to Expressive Arts
  • Collaborate with all teachers to ensure the Expressive Arts programme has authentic links across the PYP programme of Inquiry
  • Work closely with the Lead Teacher Expressive Arts to promote, enhance and develop Expressive Arts across the school
  • Be responsible for areas of the School Development Plan related to Expressive Arts
  • Contribute to a dynamic, consistent and school wide approach to the arts through the IB Primary Years Programme.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, or
  • Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
  • Relevant teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
