Job overview

The International School of Bearn is a lively, friendly and expanding school located in the beautiful city of Pau (with all the possibilities that the nearby Pyrenees and the Atlantic coast have to offer). Pupils aged 2-18, coming from 48 countries, are enthusiastic and keen to learn. Teachers enjoy a very positive work-life balance. The school is well equipped and all students work with iPads as an integral part of their learning. The school also recently moved into new, purpose-built accommodation and an extension to the Secondary school was built during the summer of 2016 to cope with increased student numbers.

The Secondary School has grown rapidly during the past 10 years and now has over 140 students. We are seeking an ENGLISH TEACHER to build on the excellent work of the previous post holder.

The successful candidate will teach ENGLISH across all Secondary School classes and may include Cambridge International (CAIE) IGCSE First Language English and AS/A Level English Language & Literature.

The ability to offer a second subject is desirable.

Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply. Head of Department position may be available for a suitable candidate.  Willingness to participate in extra curricular activities is also welcomed.

For further details of the school, visit our website: www.isbearn.com

IMPORTANT:  We can only employ teachers who have the right to live and work in France.

Please send a full CV with photo, a letter of presentation and email details for 3 referees to Head of Secondary School, Mike Kirby, secondary.jobs@isbearn.com

About International School of Bearn

International School of Bearn is a mixed, non-denominational all-through school with sixth form situated in the commune of Pau in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region of southwest France. It is an independent and non-profit school that is based around the English National Curriculum, with a high priority put towards students speaking fluently in English and French, with the help of its English as a Second Language (ESL) programme available. It is the only school in the Béarn area offering an international Anglophone education. There are a total of approximately 200 students across its pre-school, primary and secondary departments between the ages of 2-18, and class sizes are small at around 14 pupils each. Exams include SATs, IGCSEs, AS and A2 Levels and Cambridge International Exams (CIE).

ISB was founded by the school’s current principal in May 2002, with its pre-school and primary school opening in 2003, shortly followed by its secondary school in 2007. It has been accredited by a number of organisations, including ECIS in 2004, University of Cambridge International Schools in 2007, Edexcel in 2012 and Ista in 2013. It has recently moved to some new buildings in 2014.
