Career Opportunity (for NQTs, established or apprentice teachers)

Ambitious, forward-thinking, flexible and self-motivated? If you can combine these attributes with excellent teaching skills, this is the unique time to join the pioneering teaching staff at Coombe Wood School. During this key period of natural expansion, here is the opportunity to develop your own career and our curriculum, building on 2 years of groundwork, and help shape the curriculum structure and methodology as we work towards the delivery of the GCSE courses starting in September 2021.

Food Technology is set to become an integral part of the Design and Technology curriculum at Coombe Wood School in September 2020. This summer we move into our brand new state of the art building that includes carefully planned creative and practical classrooms including Food Technology.  Health related fitness is at the core of the school curriculum with Food Technology being a clear opportunity to embed key elements of health and nutrition. Due to the nature of our fantastic site, outdoor learning opportunities at Coombe Wood will be plentiful with the potential for the successful candidate to be involved in developing kitchen gardens, looking after chickens and bee keeping. It will be advantageous but not essential for the successful candidate to have the ability to teach other D&T specialisms such as Fashion and Textiles.

This role could suit either an NQT or a teacher looking to develop and broaden their professional knowledge, seeking to extend their skills in the lead up to working on our inaugural GCSE courses. Looking forward to the move to our permanent building plus another cohort of students in September, further opportunities for career development occur year on year.

Career progression is actively encouraged and taken seriously across the Trust. By becoming part of the team at Coombe Wood School, your career will benefit from joining a future-focused group of schools, where you have the advantages of natural advancement and professional development opportunities within the school - and potentially within Folio Education Trust: http://www.folio-education.co.uk/. This is a local collaboration of schools offering access to high calibre CPD, which contributes to the recognised quality of learning within our schools.
