Our mission is for everyone in our school to be happy and inspired by their school experience and for our staff this means working in a warm, welcoming and purposeful environment. This position is key in helping us to empower students to harness their own creativity, to raise their aspirations and to achieve their potential.

Great Sankey High School was judged as ‘Good’ overall by Ofsted in September 2017. We aim to continue a journey of improvement and transformation and I am determined to provide an exceptional quality of education and culture for all students, with the ambition that all will excel both academically and as aspirational and inspirational young people. There is no better time to join us, as a colleague, a leader or a student.

Students and staff are incredibly proud of their school and are determined to work together to secure further improvements and achievements.

Great Sankey High School benefits from increasingly impressive facilities and ongoing projects. The school has seen significant investment in a building and refurbishment programme, resulting in a range of new specialist science classrooms and new sports accommodation.

So, if you are eager to join a forward-thinking organisation committed to securing the highest educational, professional and personal standards, are keen to learn, develop and work with colleagues, students, parents and the community and are passionate about transforming student lives and the opportunities provided to our communities then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Great Sankey High School is a Good school (Ofsted 2017) and is part of the Omega Teaching Partnership. Our community benefits from wonderful students and a hardworking and committed staff.

Our ethos is very people-centric, built on ten core values developed by our student leadership group which underpin all of our aspirations for both students and staff.  We hope that these resonate with you.

The school enjoys an excellent reputation and has been over-subscribed for a number of years, indeed in September 2018 the Published Admission Number was raised from 315 to 375. This school expansion means a very secure future, both financially, but also in terms of holding a focal point within our community. We have a just completed a £5m building programme which has transformed the former primary school site next door into a new science block, sportshall and dining facility.

The school converted to become an academy in 2013 and was joined by four local, feeder primary schools to create the Omega Multi-Academy Trust in January 2018. In 2020, the Trust was joined by another high school. Our vision is to provide a community-based, continuity of education from 4 to 19, improving transition and raising achievement at every stage. This is a very exciting time to join the school and offers great opportunities.

Whilst this is a very good school with excellent opportunities, it is a school in transition in so many ways. We are seeking, therefore, a dynamic, innovative and determined teacher, who can inspire and implement change.

We are blessed with a wonderful student body, shown in their behaviour and academic standards. Students are proud of our school and we are proud of them. GCSE and A Level results are above national averages with an above average intake in prior attainment.

The school has a sixth form, Barrow Hall College, which is the largest school-based sixth form in Warrington. This allows the offer of a wide range of courses, whilst keeping the ability to know and nurture every student in their aspirations beyond the College.

We value the development of our staff and are working with Ambition Institute on an innovative CPD programme. Alongside this work, sits the ‘school to school support’ work of our National Support School status. As you will be aware, this offers candidates a host of personal and professional development development opportunities too.

Our mission statement:

The Great Sankey learning community provides excellent teaching and learning with passion and  purpose, based on core values, devised with our students. Working in a warm and welcoming, yet  purposeful environment, our mission is for everyone to be happy and inspired by their school  experience. We empower students to harness their own creativity, to raise their aspirations and to  achieve their potential. Working together, they gain confidence and pride to take their place in our community unities too.
