Palmer’s College is a successful and independent sixth form College in Thurrock, providing excellence in education for over 1700 students aged 16-19 years. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high quality workforce to help our students reach their full potential.
The Faculty currently offers A-levels in Physics, Biology and Chemistry, BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas in Applied Biology and Forensic Science, and BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science. Technical support for practical lessons is provided from three dedicated prep rooms, each of which is managed by a Technician in Charge. All science lessons take place in a suite of eight recently-refurbished laboratories.
A large proportion of A-level Chemistry students are also studying Biology to A-level. Many move on to higher education, with medicine, biomedical science and pharmacy being popular choices.
We are looking to appoint a teacher to teach either Forensic Science and/or Chemistry. The person appointed will teach Chemistry to A-level (OCR) and will be expected to contribute to the teaching of BTEC Applied Science courses.
This will be a full time post for the 2016/17 academic year, and hours may reduce in 2017/18 in line with student numbers.
In addition to a competitive salary and occupational pension scheme, Palmer’s College offers the following benefits: - ongoing CPD with a comprehensive schedule of training days and Twilight sessions; free staff parking, a subsidised canteen and Coffee Shop as well the option to join the on-site Sports Centre at discounted membership fees.
