TEACHER OF FRENCH AND/OR SPANISH (HEAD OF DEPARTMENT)

The Mount School York is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to continue the growth and development of the Language Department. The successful candidate must be able to teach French and/or Spanish to GCSE and A Level.

Depending upon the language specialism offered, this could either be a full time or part-time post and, for a suitably experienced candidate, also carry a responsibility allowance for being Head of Department. There is also a possibility for the post to combine with a pastoral role in the Boarding House, which would in turn attract free accommodation. 

The Mount School is a thriving boarding and day community set in 16 acres of beautiful grounds located ten minutes’ walk from York’s historic city centre. The School offers excellent facilities and comprises of a Junior School for girls and boys aged 2 to 11 and an all-girls Senior School with girls up to the age of 18. Modern Foreign Language at The Mount is a popular choice for pupils and we offer French, German and Spanish up to A Level. We are an iPad school and all pupils and staff have iPads and use them as an integral tool in their teaching and learning.

They also noted on the ‘ethos of tolerance and care for others found throughout the School’, an ethos permeating form our Quaker Heritage.

Our bespoke and engaging curriculum is tailored to motivate and enthuse girls from Early Years to Sixth Form. Girls are given a strong foundation of knowledge and a variety of learning. Within our inspiring all-girls community each girl develops to her full potential. Pupils learn to think independently, and discover their passions, leaving them ready to make a positive contribution to our changing world.
