Southend East Community Academy Trust (SECAT) and Shoeburyness High School are seeking to appoint a dynamic, innovative Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages; French and/or Spanish. This post would suit both experienced colleagues and newly qualified entrants to the profession, who would be well supported by an effective ECT programme.

Shoeburyness High School is a large, vibrant and diverse secondary school that has an excellent reputation as a warm and supportive environment in which to work and learn. We are a very popular school with families in the local area and beyond and consequently we are heavily oversubscribed.

Shoeburyness High School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Essex, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Shoeburyness, has approximately 1,650 students on record.

In 2013, the secondary school was identified as good with outstanding features by Ofsted. It converted to academy status in 2011.

Shoeburyness High School wants all students to achieve their full potential in a stimulating and welcoming learning environment, with the motto: “Expect Excellence.” It wishes for pupils to enjoy their time at the school and for all members of the school community to have access equal opportunities – regardless of their differences, faith, beliefs or background. Success is celebrated at the school and students are encouraged to nurture their talents and interests through taking part in extra-curricular activities, which include sports academies, language classes and textile clubs. Citizenship and democracy are practiced throughout the school year with the active running of the Student Council, where pupils can get involved in helping to implement positive changes to their school life. The school works to maintain a strong partnership with parents and keep them up to date with their children’s learning throughout the year, which is achieved through an online programme which allows them to track their progress.
