We are seeking to appoint a permanent part time teacher of French (0.38 – 0.50) with the possibility of some tutorial responsibility for a suitably qualified candidate for September 2016.

Salary range will at point T1- T9 (£22,709- £37,984) of the Sixth Form College’s Teacher’s Pay Spine, and an additional London Fringe area allowance of £984 per annum is paid.   

French forms part of the Languages, Literature and Culture Department which currently comprises of six full-time and four part-time members of staff. The Department is situated in the main building and benefits from discreet teaching and learning facilities with interactive whiteboards and appropriate software in every classroom as well as designated IT rooms. Teachers in the Department have their own workspace in a shared office accommodation within the teaching block, and most teaching staff are provided with their own laptop.

Students study a range of primarily Level 3 ‘A’ Level courses including French, following the AQA specification. Success rates and high grades in both AS and A2 French are above SFC averages with significant improvements in results over the last two years. The Department has a strong tradition of enrichment and all MFL subjects organise trips and visits abroad to support students’ learning.

There is a strong culture of student support within the Language, Literature and Culture Department and the College as a whole, with specialist support and workshops offered to all students. Students studying Languages are encouraged to make full use of department resources and also have access to the whole of the well-resourced College IT facilities, the subject Moodle site and the Learning Resources Centre which has an extensive collection of subject-related resources.

There is a strong culture of student support within the Department and the College as a whole. Subject support sessions are offered both with the Language Assistants and with teaching staff and students are encouraged to make full use of the whole of the well-resourced College IT facilities as well as the subject specialist resources. In addition, the Library and Learning Resources Centre offers an extensive collection of subject-related resources.
