Job overview

We are looking to appoint a part-time teacher (12 – 16 periods) of French starting from September 2020. The ability to teach French to GCSE is a necessity but the ability to offer A Level would be valuable. 

The Bedales languages department offers, French, Spanish, Russian and Latin with French being an immensely popular choice of language at GCSE and at A Level. The department has enjoyed consistently excellent results. All students study two languages in Block 3 (year 9) and must choose one language minimum to GCSE.  

To succeed in this post, you will be highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic and be in tune with the Bedales founding of holistic principles of educating ‘head, hand and heart.’ This is a wonderful opportunity to work within a friendly, outward-looking and unique department. The ability to be flexible in the face of a changing approach to educating during these challenging times is essential. Classroom experience is essential.

Bedales School is an independent, co-educational, selective, day and boarding school for children aged 3-18. It is situated in Petersfield in Hampshire and there are 460 pupils on its roll. There are admission fees and scholarships and bursaries are available.

Bedales is a charitable trust and was founded in 1893 by J H Badley as a humane alternative to the authoritarian regimes of the late-Victorian public schools. Its founding ethos was, and still is, “Head, Hand and Heart.”
