Teacher of French

Chaucer SchoolSheffield

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic French specialist with excellent subject and curriculum knowledge. We hope to appoint somebody who will join and continue to grow our small but vibrant languages department. We are incredibly proud of the curriculum we have built over the past five years and believe both learner experiences and rapidly improving results reflect this.

An ideal candidate will have experience in delivering GCSE French to a high standard and will be committed to developing high quality teaching and learning in a student focused and research driven way. Our current teaching and learning approach is inspired by, but not limited to, the Conti method. We believe the best teachers are reflective and driven by self-improvement. We thrive on new ideas and enjoy exploring ways to revitalise our ever-evolving curriculum and teaching and learning vision.

The languages team is part of the ‘Discover Faculty’ and benefits from shared CPD and collaboration with History, Geography, RE and Citizenship. This means the successful candidate will be surrounded and supported by a fantastic team of dedicated and experienced teachers. We welcome individuals who are ambitious and aspire to leadership. Several members of our team are currently engaged in a range of leadership training, subject enhancement and professional development opportunities and are supported in school by robust mentoring and line management.

Chaucer School is a warm, dynamic and rewarding place to work and serves an incredible community of young people and their families. Relationships with all the people in our community is key and compassion and respect are important and required values. Working here will offer resilient individuals the chance to develop their understanding of both ACE awareness and trauma informed practice giving them the chance to grow into strong inclusive practitioners.

We believe that languages teachers working in disadvantaged communities have the ability to engage young people in something new and challenging that opens up their world and makes it feel bigger. In turn, we can prove that they are capable of more than they know.
