We are seeking to appoint an academically rigorous, dynamic, creative and flexible colleague to teach French throughout the School from September 2018. The successful candidate will need to be an unflappable team-player with outstanding linguistic ability, who is keen to explore innovative and stimulating ways to pass on their passion to the next generation.
As a very internationally-minded school, languages play a central role in our curriculum. The French Department is one of six within the Languages Faculty. French is taught from Year 7 and we currently prepare pupils for the Edexcel IGCSE and subsequently both Pre-U and International Baccalaureate. We have exciting Bilingual streams within French whereby we accelerate classes using CLIL methods, and we also have a Section Française, which is geared towards provision for French native pupils. A number of exchanges and trips are run by the Department and an enthusiastic desire to help organise those will be essential. The ability to teach another language would be an advantage (even a language we do not currently teach on the timetable such as Arabic or Russian).
The post is as suitable for experienced teachers as it is for those new to the profession, who would participate in our highly-regarded Schools Direct programme. A proactive culture of supporting and developing talented and inspiring teachers is supported by the Senior Management Team.
Staff will be encouraged to contribute fully to the co-curricular life of the School and this is reflected in the salary offered. A strong commitment to the pastoral and house system is also anticipated. Accommodation may be available. Assistance is offered towards removal expenses.
We welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to attract staff that matches the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.
