Hockerill offers a highly distinctive curriculum with language provision at its core. History, Geography and Music are delivered through the bilingual section in French and German and the curriculum ranges from beginners’ courses to language and literature for native speakers. There is a unique and extensive programme of visits and exchanges.

Hockerill has a strong international perspective and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Middle Years Programmes. We offer a host of international exchanges and the Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Experience of the International Baccalaureate would be viewed with interest, but is not a prerequisite. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach languages across the age and ability range.

Hockerill is a very successful school and has high expectations of its supportive and dynamic students and staff. The College was previously IB School of the Year and has consistently topped the comprehensive state school sixth form league tables. Hockerill is one of only 37 state boarding schools, with a vibrant international community of 841 students, almost 300 of whom are residential boarders. It is situated in the historic market town of Bishop’s Stortford and is within 30 minutes of both London and Cambridge, with Stansted Airport just 10 minutes away.
