Job Title:     Teacher - Games Design and IT qualifications

Location:        Syon Manor College, Isleworth, London

Salary:       From £35,000 per annum

Hours:       38.5 hours per week; Monday - Friday 

Contract:     Permanent; Term Time

We are looking for a Games Design and IT qualifications Teacher to join our fantastic team at Syon Manor College, Isleworth, London.

About this role

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and outstanding teacher with a proven track record of high-quality teaching in Games Design and a range of other formal IT qualifications, specifically in Further Education and within Special Educational Needs.

Who we are looking for

The successful applicant will be able to teach from Entry 3 to Level 3 across a range of IT qualifications. It is also desirable for candidates to possess technical expertise in one or more coding languages and possess an understanding of formal accreditation expectations and deadlines.

You will have a teaching qualification (QTS or QTLS) or be working towards gaining this. You will keep up to date with current pedagogy and practice and have proven skills in motivating learners at all levels.

You will have strong pastoral and behaviour management skills which can be utilised with all our learners.

Job Purpose

  • To prepare and deliver, relevant and differentiated Games Design and IT qualification, from Entry level to Level 3 depending on the needs of the students
  • To progress the strategic aims and objectives of the college within courses and/or subjects taught
  • To design and implement student-centred curriculum developments and to implement quality frameworks and procedures which improve access, retention, and achievement of students within courses and/or subjects taught
  • To oversee the learning, progress and conduct of students on courses and/or subjects taught
  • To liaise with external agencies as required, including developing links with employers, other providers, professional organisations within the local community
  • To act as Mentor to our young learners
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
  • To contribute to maximising standards of student attainment
  • To share and support the Colleges’ responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Syon Manor College is a new post-16 provision for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards Employability or Independence and Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.
