Job overview

Leeds City College is one of the UK’s largest FE establishments with around 1200 employees and over 35,000 students. Offering a diverse curriculum within a vibrant and multicultural learning environment, our goal is to deliver excellent and innovative education which supports and inspires every student to achieve their ambitions.

Part Time 18.5 hours per week

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of GCSE and A-Level Geography. This post is offered on a 0.5 part-time basis (expected to be across 3 days per week) in the first instance, but there may be an option to increase this in subsequent academic years.

We are looking for an inspirational and outstanding professional teacher, with both a relevant academic degree and teaching qualification, to join our A-Levels and Academic Studies Department, as the sole Geography teacher within the department.

Geography will be a new subject within our curriculum at both GCSE and A-Level, and it is therefore essential that the successful candidate is able to design and deliver both the GCSE and A-Level Geography courses without wider internal subject specific guidance. The exam boards for both GCSE and A-Level will be chosen in consultation with the successful candidate, who will have a significant contribution to shaping and developing our Geography provision, offering an exciting career development opportunity for the right candidate.

As such, prior experience of successful delivery of GCSE and A-Level Geography within an FE or Sixth Form environment would be an advantage. However, this post may also be suitable for an exceptional NQT. The successful candidate will ideally be in a position to assume this role from 24th August 2017.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to join our A-Levels & Academic Studies department at an exciting time of growth, offering excellent potential for career progression, and with a move to new purpose-built accommodation anticipated within the next few years.
