Greenhead College is an outstandingly successful Sixth Form College with over 2,300 16-19 year old students following advanced level courses. The College has a long history of exceptional examination results and sits near the top of the national sixth-form college performance tables, meaning it is one of the very best in the country. Since 1999 the College has been a Beacon College and a ‘Centre of Excellence’. There is a very happy and supportive atmosphere; staff and students are mutually positive about education, which is major factor in the College’s ongoing success.
The Geography Department at Greenhead was rated ‘Outstanding’ at the most recent Ofsted inspection. At present, there are 145 students following the new Linear A-level (OCR) in Geography and 130 doing A-level in the second year, following the AQA specification. The team is made up of four Geography Teachers (two full-time and two part-time), including the Head of Department. The subject is taught in two dedicated, well equipped rooms and a large staff ‘resource area’ shared with three other Humanities subjects creates a dynamic and convivial atmosphere. The department prides itself on its organisation of fieldwork, which involves two residential trips each year: one in the UK and one in Iceland.
The College is looking to appointment a part-time (0.5) classroom teacher to join the team on a one year fixed-term contract. The role will involve teaching the equivalent of two groups towards A-level examinations in Geography, plus a contribution towards enrichment (non-examination) courses.

A successful record of teaching and learning in the 16-19 range would be ideal, although applications from NQTs are welcome.
