Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre (the ‘NCS’) is a dedicated sixth form centre established by a group of nine Newham 11-16 schools. The NCS opened in September 2014 in iconic Grade 2 listed buildings on the East Ham Town Hall Civic Complex, having been fully renovated to a high standard with nine new science laboratories and spacious teaching classrooms.Our first year A2 results were outstanding with 77% A/B and 96% A/C, and we are predicting 2017 results to be 85% A/B and 95% A/C. We have recently been judged ‘Outstanding’ in all categories by Ofsted. The centre provides a stimulating education and personalised curriculum within a supportive environment in which students are encouraged to stretch themselves to achieve their potential. The NCS offers an academic A Level Curriculum in the Sciences, Mathematics and Humanities. The A Level Curriculum and the extra-curricular programme will be focused on preparing students for progression to selective and Russell Group universities.
The NCS is currently looking to appoint a teacher of Geography with the ability to deliver high quality lessons and achieve excellent results. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Head of Humanities to establish and design the curriculum and student offer as well as assisting the most able students in Newham and surrounding boroughs achieve their true potential.
The successful candidate for the Geography role will:

Hold DfE Qualified Teacher Status and a relevant undergraduate degree.

Have experience of teaching A level Geography or demonstrate a strong desire to develop the skills and knowledge to do so; we welcome applications from high quality NQTs.

Have excellent subject knowledge and be passionate about their subject.

Share our vision that there is no ceiling to achievement and believe in the transformational nature of education.

Have a keen interest to share their academic interests as part of our innovative super curriculum.
The role will provide the opportunity to work with the Head of Humanities to establish Geography in a dedicated sixth form centre. We are looking for knowledgeable and expert candidates to start in September 2017.

Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre, also known as The NCS, is a mixed further education institution situated in East Ham, East London. The college has been operating under the patronage of Newham Adult Learning Services; in January 2017, the Department for Education announced that the City of London Corporation would be the new benefactor for the college.
Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre officially opened in September 2014, providing education for post-16 students. It holds specialist teaching status in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics, and was judged “outstanding” by Ofsted in 2016. In a recent ALPS report, The NCS ranked in the top 1% of UK schools for value added.
