Job overview

This post is an excellent opportunity to gain experience teaching with an enthusiastic and strong department in an exceptional School. The successful candidate will be required for a one year, full-time contract to cover maternity leave from September 2018 to August 2019. Knowledge or experience of teaching the IGCSE and IB exam courses currently taught by the Department are not required. A willingness to participate in the wider life of the School with pastoral care duties and help with extra-curricular activities, would be desirable.

King Edward’s is one of the most interesting, diverse and intellectually ambitious independent schools in the country, situated in a green ‘oasis’ close to the heart of England’s second city; both the school and the city are at an exciting stage of development.

This post affords an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to launch a career or for a more experienced teacher to join an exceptional team.

The school teaches IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma (although IB experience is not essential for this post), and the salary scale is significantly above the state sector.

Further details and an application form can be found on the school’s website, www.kes.org.uk

Applications, including a letter and a completed application form, should be sent by email to Becky Smith, HR Manager at recruitment@kes.org.uk.

King Edward’s School, Birmingham is driven by a shared belief in the transformative power of a broad, intellectually demanding and accessible education in a young, ethnically diverse city. It is also one of the most successful and significant boys’ schools in the country.

Founded in 1552 by Edward VI, King Edward’s School is the founding father of the King Edward VI Foundation and has always been a central institution in the city of Birmingham which it serves. It is located on a stunning 50-acre site in Edgbaston, which it shares with King Edward VI High School for Girls (KEHS), and educates around 900 day boys, aged 11 to 18.
