We are seeking to appoint a committed & enthusiastic teacher who enjoys working as a member of a team and is constantly seeking ways in which they can improve on their current practice.

Without a good grasp of geography, young people will never fully understand the world and how to make it a better place for all.

The Geography department offers a stimulating environment that fosters both academic growth and personal development, supported by a dynamic curriculum and exceptional resources. As one of the most popular GCSE subjects, the department takes great pride in its annual excursion to Italy, providing students with enriching opportunities beyond the classroom.

The successful applicant will be required to teach Geography to pupils in KS3 and KS4 and KS5 if a suitable candidate is appointed. You will also be required to undertake the role of form tutor delivering their fortnightly form period. Applications are welcome from candidates at any stage in their career.

Geography is a successful department in the school, taught by a team of four subject specialists. Each member of the department teaches across all year groups. The subject is offered at both GCSE and A-Level, with particularly strong uptake at GCSE.

The Geography department has three dedicated teaching rooms, each equipped with an electronic whiteboard. All teachers are provided with a school laptop.

Geography is taught as a discrete subject in Years 7-9 with all pupils receiving 3 or 4 fifty-minute lessons per fortnight. The subject is optional at GCSE and A-Level. Fieldwork is a strong element of the geography curriculum for all year groups with opportunities being offered to study locally, within the UK and beyond.

The school takes its responsibility for the safety of the students extremely seriously and applicants will be expected to demonstrate a clear understanding of their responsibilities in this area at all stages of the application process.

King Edward VI Aston School is an academy school for boys based in Birmingham for students aged 11-18. 

A selective grammar school for boys and one of the twelve schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham.  It has been part of the Aston community since 1883 and has strong links with many local schools and organisations primarily through the work of its Sports Partnership.
