King’s Bruton is an HMC co-educational boarding and day school of 350 pupils aged 13-18.   An inspirational and suitably-qualified teacher of Geography is required to join this successful department from September 2019 for 1 term. The successful applicant will be a motivated and qualified teacher with either a specialist or Geography related degree. Geography is a popular choice at both GCSE and A level, with large numbers of pupils selecting this subject and looking to study this subject further at degree level and beyond. The role would suit a recently qualified teacher, or someone with more classroom experience who would enjoy the challenge of joining a dynamic and thriving department. The part time hours would be based on a 0.65 timetable with flexibility shown for a suitable candidate.

Further details and an application form may be obtained from the HR Assistant (01749 814316 or recruitment@kingsbruton.com).

Completed application forms should be emailed to the HR Assistant at recruitment@kingsbruton.com together with a covering letter and Curriculum Vitae by 5.00pm on the 25th January 2019.  Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 28th January 2019.

Values and vision

King’s Bruton is a smaller independent school and, as such, its values and vision revolve around the tight-knit community of students that it has cultivated. The Somerset school promotes a sense of loyalty, determination and encourages pupils to go above and beyond both in and out of the classroom.

Emphasis is placed on inclusivity and promoting diversity within the school. King’s Bruton aims to foster a culture of acceptance and respect in all aspects of school life.

ISI report

“Relationships between staff and between pupils themselves are appropriate, and in their questionnaire responses the vast majority of boarders agree that they get on well together and feel safe in their boarding house. Staff are dedicated to the welfare of all pupils and provide a suitable structure for them to develop and thrive. Pastoral policies and procedures are effective and good behaviour is promoted.”
