Royal Russell School educates over 1000 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 18 and is situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon, only 30 minutes from Central London.  We have over 150 boarding students in the Senior School and are proud of our day and boarding facilities that rank amongst the best in the South of England.  Our pupils, parents and staff experience a warm and friendly environment with strong pastoral care for every pupil alongside a comprehensive co-curricular and enrichment programme.  In March 2016 the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) judged the school as ‘excellent’ in all areas and in October 2018 we successfully passed a full ISI compliance inspection.

The Geography department is an important part of the academic team at Royal Russell, with an established presence at GCSE and A level boosted by a range of exciting field trips to destinations in the UK and overseas, including Iceland and Lanzarote. As well as delivering great lessons, the department provides additional stretch and challenge for the most able through extension opportunities, and all the team members are active in the co-curricular programme as well. This role requires experience and dynamism, teamwork and dedication, and someone who is able to build on the foundations already in place to take Geography to the next level within the school. 

You should be a well-qualified and inspiring teacher with outstanding subject knowledge, able to teach confidently from Year 7 through to the highest standard at A level. The ability to offer another humanity at KS3 and KS4 would be an advantage. We offer a range of diverse excursions and field trips to our students, providing high quality tutorial support and a range of co-curricular activities. An eagerness to organise and participate in the department’s extensive fieldwork programme is essential, as is a willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular programme and support the pastoral life of our School.
